Rendered Stills

I realised the detail on the dungarees weren't added in this stills so (depending on whether or not it adds to the look) I'll add the detail on soon.

Progress Report

I'm currently transferring the details to the UV'd mesh's on Miri and I'm more than half way through that. After which I'll be applying the texture then rigging.

Some good news that I found out recently about the file wasn't transferring properly was that it was corrupt and any Maya save file that it went between would get corrupt as well and unusable because it'd crash.
I'm not sure how it got corrupted however having more than one save file was definitely handy in this kind of predicament.

Errors and Fixes

I've been able to go back and see if the importing of Miri works this time around, and decided to send the reference pictures over as well to see where the differences lie. It is still doing the thinning business unfortunetly and it only appears to be happening to that file (any other object sent which is not related to Miri works just fine).

Now onto the solution, as I decided to import the reference picture over as well I can manipulate the pieces in Maya and move onto the uving !

Textured Kitchen Objects

I have finally completed the objects and will start Miri tomorrow!
I'll also be able to see if the weird fat reducing issue between Maya and Z Brush has fixed itself.

Modelled Kitchen Objects

I haven't posted in a while and that's mainly because I've been far too focused working to post. I am happy to say that I have modelled everything that goes inside Miri's Kitchen and will texture them and her this week.

The texturing of the objects will be started today Miri will be re looked at tomorrow.

Lost in translation

Zbrush                                                                                         Maya

I noticed while working between Maya and Z brush that something got lost in translation (which I have not experienced before).

The face from zbrush is alot rounder and wider however when imported to Maya it seems to lose that extra chub. Not entirely sure why that happens but, as I have already started to do, I realize that I will need to make those changes within Maya itself.

Codename Cookie: Miri Creation progress

I've been thinking of how I should do the base of the head and finally settled on making a separate piece to sculpt and fit to his head, and am currently deciding whether or not to make the cowlick apart of it or separate..

Working on adding some more lines to the hair then the braids and scrunches too.
(And a pair of buttons) then I'll be moving onto the environment.

As I'm finished with the face at the moment I'll be working on the clothes next~

Codename Cookie: Pre Viz with and without music

I think adding some whimsical sound effects, for certain instances like when she slips would add to the comedy.

Mudbox lesson 4 / 5

More of a tip than an image.
I learned that a good way to make realistic anatomy is by projecting a image with the muscle tones on the body (preferably front and back).

Then sculpting out the muscles on the geomtry.
After which you can create a new sculpt layer and freely alter mass amounts of the sculpt. i.e. make it fatter, bigger etc with.

By having extra layers you can also vary the strength of the layer giving you variety between your base effect and your altared effect.

Codename Cookie: Pre Viz Screenshot

I am currently on the next step which is making the pre viz. Below is a screenshot of my current work in progress.

Making Hair

I spent a couple of days learning how to make hair in Maya. giving me more options for doing hair in the longrun.

Finished hair

First attempt
I did render out a scene with the hair moving however the hair glitches out, and I am not sure how to fix it at the moment, I think it may be a graphics card problem.

Mini Storyboards

These are my drafted out storyboards which I will use to create a pre viz from.

Today we learned how to use stencils and edit them to fit our model, we also learned how to make our stencil by tracing a photo to a plain then making it a Vector Displacement map.

@ Alan Story addition/ alteration

After talking to Justin today he gave me a few more interesting ideas that I could add to my animation which would work with the escalation gag throughout.

This would involve the Cookie Jar moving so its less repetitive and visibly clear that she is clever enough to find new ways to get to her prize whilst never actually reaching it.

He also thought that making the ways she gets to the cookie jar ( while using the escalating idea, ) on the third try she ends up using a ricochet technique to help her reach the cookie jar. But as she's about to reach it she is either; still not close enough, her ricochet ends up pushing the cookie jar further back and she tumbles into a bin and gets thrown out into the laundry basket for the last time.

So even thought the cookie jar moves again, the story and gags will still remain the same.

Kitchen Object List

This is the current set of objects which will feature in the animation.

At the moment number 1, 7, 19,  24,  look quite good for the part... but overall I believe I will be going for number 21.

To give my character more personallity and a little bit of a background I've decided to base the story in the 90's. Therefore her look, accesories etc will be a collection of things from that time.

As My character is a Very clever little girl her 'character' will be built from:
Intellegent looking people
Geek/Nerdy looking people
Geeky/Nerdy accessories
