Information about the Hippocampus,

The species is typically found in shallow "inshore waters" upto 40 - 50 meters deep.
this includes mangroves, seagrass beds....

They also are used for medical reasons,
and is apparently sold locally and internationally for the aqaurium trade and curios.
China sees them as the most valuable seashorses for traditional chinese medicine according to : www.arkive.org

Something that I was rather surprised to hear was that H.Kuda's have "Highly structured social behavior".
